1. What RateCheckr Is
RateCheckr (ratecheckr.co) is a free, independent decision-support tool that compares money transfer providers for the USD→INR corridor and provides a free AI-powered FBAR filing tool for NRIs. We are not a bank, money transmitter, or financial advisor.
2. Information We Collect
Rate comparison tool:
- Email address (if you subscribe to daily emails)
- Transfer preferences: amount, frequency, current provider
- Usage events: when you check rates or click provider links (anonymous)
FBAR filing tool:
- Email address (required to view your report)
- Account labels only: bank names, account categories, statement frequencies
- We do NOT store: bank statements, account numbers, balances, financial amounts, or any sensitive financial data
- PDF statements are read in your browser — the extracted text is sent to AI for analysis, then discarded
Automatically collected:
- Standard web analytics (page views, referrer, device type)
- Email engagement (opens, clicks — see Section 6)
3. FBAR Tool — AI Processing Disclosure
When you use our FBAR filing tool:
- PDF processing happens in your browser. Your bank statement files are read locally using JavaScript. The files are never uploaded to our servers.
- Extracted text is sent to Anthropic's Claude AI (via their API) for analysis. This is how we extract bank names, balances, dates, and account details from your statements.
- Anthropic does not retain your data for training purposes when accessed via their API. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy for details.
- We do not store your financial data. After the AI generates your report, no balances, account numbers, or statement content is saved on our servers. The report exists only in your browser session and in the email we send you.
- What we do save: your email address, bank names (e.g., "HSBC UK"), account categories (e.g., "bank"), and statement frequencies (e.g., "Monthly"). This is solely to pre-populate your accounts if you return next year.
In plain English:
Your bank statements stay on your device. We send the text to AI, get back the analysis, show you the report, email you a copy, and save only your bank names for next year. That's it. No balances, no account numbers, no financial data on our servers.
4. How We Use Your Information
- Send daily rate comparison emails (if subscribed)
- Send your FBAR report to your email
- Send FBAR deadline reminder emails (if you used the FBAR tool)
- Send weekly articles and insights (if subscribed)
- Pre-populate your FBAR accounts for returning users
- Improve the product based on aggregate usage patterns
- Understand which providers our users are most interested in
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with these service providers who help us operate:
- Anthropic (Claude AI) — receives extracted statement text for FBAR analysis. Does not retain API data for model training.
- Resend — our email delivery provider. Receives your email address to deliver rate comparisons, FBAR reports, and reminders.
- Supabase — our database provider. Stores your email, preferences, and FBAR account labels (no financial data).
- Vercel — our hosting provider. Standard server logs only.
We do not share your email address, usage data, or any personal information with money transfer providers.
6. Email Tracking
Our emails contain:
- Open tracking pixel — a 1×1 transparent image that records when an email is opened
- Click tracking — provider links route through our server before redirecting, so we can measure which providers interest our subscribers
This data is used in aggregate to improve our service. We do not share individual tracking data with any third party.
7. Cookies
We use minimal cookies for basic site functionality. We do not use advertising cookies or share cookie data with third parties.
8. Your Rights
You can:
- Unsubscribe from emails at any time (link in every email)
- Request deletion of all your data by emailing us
- Request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Opt out of FBAR reminders by contacting us
We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
9. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure database access controls, and limiting stored data to the minimum necessary. However, no system is 100% secure.
10. Children's Privacy
RateCheckr is not intended for use by anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
